Gone baby gone...

I just lost my mother... and just saw the film "Gone Baby gone" by Ben Affleck. An amazing movie. Worth your time. But what impressed me also was the fact that Ben hired his own brother Casey Affleck to play the leading role.

Now that is family. Well done bros.

Adieu, Mom...

My mother has just passed away. I knew she was "leaving"... but was surprised how much it hurts when one loses their Mom...

Even if she was 89.

Death hurts.

Lisez votre histoire .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French-Canadian l

The Good Samaritan...

As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus.

Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg. She tried to take the step, only to discover that she couldn't.

So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her back to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step. Once again, much to her chagrin, she could not raise her leg.

With another little smile to the bus driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little more and again was unable to make the step.

About this time a large Newfie, who was standing behind her, picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus.

She went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan and yelled, 'How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!'

The Newfie smiled and said, 'Well ma'am normally I would agree wid ya , but after ya unzipped me fly tree times, I kinda tought we was friends.'

The Philosophy of Charles Schultz

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.
You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners .

Here's another quiz.

See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with .

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care .

On military defense

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death."

Mercury

The cratered expanse pictured above was mostly in darkness 30 years ago when NASA's Mariner 10 spacecraft made the first and (until now) only flybys of Mercury. Last week, MESSENGER caught the terrain in sunlight for the first time.

"These are fantastic images," says Murchie. For one thing, "we've gotten our first good look at Caloris Basin," the biggest known impact crater on Mercury and one of the biggest craters in the entire solar system.

Right: Typical of the images returned by MESSENGER, this horizon shot shows the beautifully shadowed crater named Sholem Aleichem.

Introducing Serge

Serge is a good friend of our family. He is good at tap dancing, modelling and soccer. His problem is he can't find any chicks... so if you know of someone that matches him, write to me and we will arrange something...

Just kidding... he is already taken.

What is "Today"?

Yesterday is history,

Tomorrow, a mystery,

Today, a gift.

Thus, it is called the "present".
